Course Overview
The interdisciplinary course “Nachhaltigkeit: Herausforderungen und Lösungen / Sostenibilità: sfide e soluzioni / Sustainability: Challenges and Solutions”, part of the Studium Generale program at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, offers a comprehensive and accessible introduction to sustainability. Coordinated by the Competence Centre for Sustainability (CCEES), it involves lecturers from all member institutions of the STARS Alliance, bringing together perspectives from science, economics, and social research.
The course explores key sustainability challenges and possible approaches across ecological, economic, and social dimensions, with particular attention to mountain regions.
Main Objectives
- Offer a general overview on the topic of sustainability and on the current challenges and approaches to face its economic, ecological and social aspect
- Focus on the context of mountain regions, including its society, economy, and natural resources
- Enable the audience to analyze the discussed sustainability aspects and to apply them in areas of society such as politics, tourism, the economy, nature management and in companies and the education sector
The lecture series runs from 15 October 2025 to 14 January 2026, on Wednesdays from 17:00 to 19:00 at the Bozen-Bolzano campus.
