The Philosophical-Theological College of Brixen/Bressanone is an academic theological formation and training institution run by the Diocese of Bozen-Brixen/Bolzano-Bressanone whose origin date back to the sixteenth century. It is a place for philosophical and theological teaching and research with a principal focus on academic theology, but also providing formational preparation and practical training. By following the motto “pietas et scientia”, “piety and science”, its teachers are concerned with a lively connection between faith and knowledge, tradition and progress, thought and action and beside qualifying students for ecclesiastical professions and for the teaching of religious education, the Study of Theology also aims at personality formation by including a basic humanistic education, and a theological-scientific awareness of problems and by sharpening the view of the world and the society in which we live. The College’s main areas of focus include teaching and research in the field of sustainability: various courses refer to the seventeen goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
