Extreme weather events and adaptation in the South-Eastern Alps

What do we know about future extreme weather (rain, drought, storms)? What were their environmental impacts? How can forecasting improve mountain management and disaster prevention?

The initiative plans to pursue a better understanding of weather mechanisms, their impact on the environment, the capability of their forecasting and related implications. The meeting, financed by the Competence Center for Economic, Ecological and Social Sustainability at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, in collaboration with the South Tyrolean Meteorological Office, the Research Alliance for Sustainability in South Tyrol and the Federal Research Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape (WSL) in Switzerland, is scheduled for Dec. 16-17 in Bozen-Bolzano.

Language: English; questions and discussion can also be made in German and Italian
