On May 4th 2026 the STARS Alliance held its annual meeting at unibz bringing together representatives from the partner institutions and the Province of Bolzano-Bozen.
A central focus of the meeting was the interaction between STARS and the Province, with the aim of reflecting on and exploring future directions for cooperation in the field of sustainability.
From the Province side, Klaus Egger, Special Commissioner for Sustainability, outlined the Province’s sustainability journey, tracing its evolution from the initial vision to the current revision process of the Everyday for Future strategy. The discussion then turned to the possible involvement and contribution of STARS in support of the Province’s sustainability efforts.
A key topic in this context was the development of an Expert Platform, conceived as an interface between the scientific community and public administration, bringing together Alliance members with expertise in sustainability-related fields. Participants engaged in an in-depth discussion on both conceptual and practical aspects of its implementation.
Finally, the meeting included a summary of the main activities carried out by the Alliance over the past year, as well as an outlook on future commitments and developments, including a new edition of the course “Sustainability: Challenges and Solutions” within the Studium Generale of the University of Bolzano-Bozen, scheduled for the upcoming winter semester 2026/27.
