DESCRIPTION:Session Lectures: \n\nGiovanni Peratoner (Centro di Sperimentazione Laimburg): Multifunzionalità e sostenibilità dei sistemi foraggeri \nRoland Benedikter (Eurac Research): Zukunft der Nachhaltigkeit\n\nCourse Overview \nThe interdisciplinary course “Nachhaltigkeit: Herausforderungen und Lösungen / Sostenibilità: sfide e soluzioni / Sustainability: Challenges and Solutions”\, part of the Studium Generale program at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano\, offers a comprehensive and accessible introduction to sustainability. Coordinated by the Competence Centre for Sustainability (CCEES)\, it involves 19 lecturers from all member institutions of the STARS Alliance\, bringing together perspectives from science\, economics\, and social research. \nThe course explores key sustainability challenges and possible approaches across ecological\, economic\, and social dimensions\, with particular attention to mountain regions. \nMain Objectives \n\nOffer a general overview on the topic of sustainability and on the current challenges and approaches to face its economic\, ecological and social aspect\nFocus on the context of mountain regions\, including its society\, economy\, and natural resources\nEnable the audience to analyze the discussed sustainability aspects and to apply them in areas of society such as politics\, tourism\, the economy\, nature management and in companies and the education sector\n\nThe lecture series runs from 15 October 2025 to 14 January 2026\, on Wednesdays from 17:00 to 19:00 at the Bozen-Bolzano campus. \nProgram: \n \n\n \n\nCourse language: German\, Italian\, English (according to participants)\n\nRegistration: participation is open to all\, with no prior registration required \nEvent website: Nachhaltigkeit: Herausforderungen und Lösungen | Sostenibilità: sfide e soluzioni | Sustainability: Challenges and Solutions – S.T.A.R.S.

DESCRIPTION:Kein alpiner Rasen ist ihnen zu steil und kein Lebensraum zu abgelegen: Seit 2019 untersucht das Team des Biodiversitätsmonitorings Südtirol (BMS) landesweit Flora und Fauna in verschiedensten Habitaten. Die langfristig angelegte Studie ist im Alpenraum einzigartig und ermöglicht durch Wiederholungen alle fünf Jahre\, ökologische Veränderungen sichtbar zu machen. Südtirol zählt zu den Hotspots Mitteleuropas\, steht jedoch zunehmend unter Druck. Der Report 2019–2024 zeigt zahlreiche neue Erkenntnisse und Erstfunde sowie Empfehlungen zum Schutz der Biodiversität. Diese Themen stehen im Mittelpunkt des Colloquiums vom 14. Jänner 2026\, gestaltet von den Forschenden Andreas Hilpold und Chiara Paniccia. \nNessun prato alpino è troppo ripido e nessun habitat troppo isolato: dal 2019 il team del Biodiversity Monitoring Südtirol (BMS) studia la flora e la fauna dell’Alto Adige in una vasta gamma di ambienti. Lo studio\, concepito su scala temporale di lungo periodo\, è unico nello spazio alpino e\, grazie a ripetizioni ogni cinque anni\, consente di rendere visibili i cambiamenti ecologici. L’Alto Adige è uno degli hotspot dell’Europa centrale\, ma è sottoposto a pressioni crescenti. Il report 2019–2024 presenta numerose nuove conoscenze e primi ritrovamenti\, oltre a raccomandazioni per la tutela della biodiversità.
