SUMMARY:Digital and Sustainable Construction 2025
DESCRIPTION:Digitalisation and sustainability are the challenges for the construction industry in this decade. Disruptive technologies present opportunities and risks\, for small and medium-sized enterprises\, but also for established large corporations. \nThis day will focus on innovation and exchange. Participants will learn about potentially disruptive technologies in the field of “Innovation & Sustainability in the Built Environment”\, “Artificial Intelligence & Digital Environments” and “Automation & Robotics on Site”\, presented by experts for experts. \n–  1 whole content-rich event about the main challenges and key new technologies the construction industry is facing \n–  9 speakers from all over Europe and with different profiles: research\, industry and public institutions for a 360-degree view on this construction sector \n–  3 main topics \n–  Theory and practice: concrete showcases to highlight the applications of new technologies developed. \n–  Simultaneous translation service Italian-German and German-Italian. \n–  All participants will be offered a coffee break\, a business lunch and a networking aperitif. \n3 THEMATIC SESSIONS \n\nSession A – Innovation & Sustainability in the Built Environment\nFrom renewable energy and smart resource management to eco-friendly practices: a journey through green design and digital efficiency.\nSession B – Artificial Intelligence & Digital Environments\nHow AI\, digital twins\, and big data are reshaping the way we design\, build\, and manage buildings and cities—from predictive design to intelligent infrastructure.\nSession C – Automation & Robotics on Site\nDrones\, bricklaying robots\, autonomous vehicles\, and smart sensors: real technologies already enhancing productivity\, safety\, and precision on construction sites.\n\nLanguage: The event will be held primarily in Italian and German\, with simultaneous interpretation provided between these two languages. This page is in English to ensure clarity for all audiences. \nRegistration (required within the 25.09.25): Digital and Sustainable Construction Tickets\, Thu\, Oct 9\, 2025 at 9:00 AM | Eventbrite \nCosts: €35.00 Early Bird – €50.00 Standard Ticket \nEvent website: Digital and Sustainable Construction 2025 \nFor any further information please contact us at events@fraunhofer.it \n

SUMMARY:Futuring the rural
DESCRIPTION:Public lecture with Edgar Vladimirenko\, practicing architect and urbanist in Lithuania and UNESCO Chair Fellow \n\nAs tractors block capital boulevards and city ministries plan the countryside from afar\, the line between rural and urban dissolves. If we were to acknowledge the “complete urbanisation of society”\, rural territories become part of the urban system with functional and physical ties to the cities. Therefore rural Lithuania\, and much of Europe\, is neither the romantic periphery nor a museum piece; it is a palimpsest of political experiments whose unresolved governance now hinders ecological and social resilience. \nThis lecture aims to trace that dissolution. From Soviet agro-settlements to airport ghost‑villages\, through several symbolic locations\, the lecture seeks to reveal that rural areas are laboratories where traces of various “political seasons” have been inscribed. It further explores how tools of architecture and urbanism allow us to speculate the future of rural territories. \nJoin us on Teams! \nLanguage: The lecture will be held in English and is open to everyone interested. \nRegistration: https://events.teams.microsoft.com/event/483ba585-1d43-441f-9fb0-f42d5430216d@92513267-03e3-401a-80d4-c58ed6674e3b \nEvent website: https://www.eurac.edu/en/institutes-centers/center-for-advanced-studies/news-events/futuring-the-rural-lecture-edgar-vladimirenko
